On energy crisis

A well-known oil tycoon says he has the answer to solve the nation's energy crisis. Mr. T. Boone Pickens says "I've been an oil man all my life, but this is one emergency we can't drill our way out of."

Mr. Pickens is building the world's largest wind farm in Texas. And this week, he is launching a national campaign focused on alternative energy. His plan would use wind as of source of electricity, rather than relying on natural gas. He says that would free up natural gas to fill our cars and end America's dependence on foreign oil.

Fred Frupp with the Environmental Defense Fund said, "what a dramatic wake-up moment when a Texas tycoon tells us we have to cut our addiction to oil. It's really time for America to act."

Alternative energy experts say there is enough wind to create massive amounts of electricity but they say nation's power grid is not designed to deliver it.

I definitely agree with Pickens that we need to develop alternatives. I joined his pickensplan DOT com initiative but I'm unsure how much traction it is really getting from the general public.
