The Shadow of Pain

Shadows are always there. The shadow of pain is like your shadow. Sometimes it is small and hard to find and then at other times it is a giant as tall as a tree. It is a constant companion that accompanies you. If you go fast it is just as fast. If you go slow it is slow. When you stop it stops. It matches you. When you are in the deepest valley your shadow is there. When at the heights of the highest mountain it is there also. I never thought that the pain would shadow you. I would expect the pain would be there when I am low and downcast. I would expect it on birthdays, holidays, and death days. But not on the good days. The happy days. The fun days. The shadow is always there. I remember when I first realized my shadow was always there. It was a revelation really. It was more than two years after James. I was teaching. This would almost seem insignificant except for the profound revelation that was revealed in this small event in time. The soccer team was goi...

This is the victory that has overcome the world - Our Faith

The Bible is a 'David and Goliath' book. It's filled with stories of ordinary people whose faith overcame great obstacles and impacted the world around them. That's why John the Apostle writes: "Whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith" ( 1 John 5:4 ). If you haven't heard of Irwin Rosenberg, here's his he was discharged from the Navy when he was diagnosed with cancer. That was the standard military procedure at the time. But he was determined to get back both his health and his job. At one point he was given only two weeks to live. But with faith and dogged determination he battled his cancer and eventually brought it under control. Irwin then focused his attention on becoming a naval officer again. But he discovered that navy regulations forbade reinstatement of a person discharged with cancer. Everyone around him said, "Give up. It can't be done. It would take an >A...

The Power of Music

A college student was troubled by sinful thoughts. Even though he regularly read his Bible and prayed, he continued to struggle, so he sought help from a Christian counselor. "What kind of music do you listen to?" asked the counselor. The student aid it was secular rock. The counselor then commented, "Think of your mind as a big sheet of paper. Each song you hear is a match burning the edges. You ask God to heal the burn, and He begins applying the salve of His Word. But you keep adding matches. Listen to Christian music and see what happens." The student did, and the truth set to music began to heal his mind. This is indeed very true in my life, there are times when i feel weak especially during difficult times i would always listen to gospel music. Christian songs always lift my spirit up and bring healing to my soul. So never underestimate the music's power. It can neither hinder the Spirit's work or increase your love for Christ. Praise be to God in the...

S.M.A.R.T way to start The New Year!

The righteous keep moving forward... and... become stronger.Job 17:9 Whoever said, "Procrastination is the thief of time," was right. We keep postponing, promising ourselves we'll do better. Be honest, how many of last year's resolutions did you keep? This year do things differently. Make your goals S.M.A.R.T. In other words, make them: (S)pecific: Get up earlier in order to read your Bible and pray before going to work. Make time for your family. Exercise. Eat right. Take care of your body; it's God's temple (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). (M)oderate: tackling more than one project at a time dilutes your focus and makes it harder to stick with. When you start too much you finish too little. Start small and build on your successes by mastering and maintaining one thing at a time. (A)chievable: don't try to swallow the whole elephant in one bite. Baby steps are the name of the game. Paul said, "One thing I do" (Philp 3:13 NKJV). Talk in terms of what you...

What are You doing, God?

Image
Just wanna share with you guys... A man who had been shipwrecked was living alone on a desert island. He had finally built himself a little refuge out of palm branches that would shelter him from the sun and the rain. That night his hut caught fire and burned to the ground. "What are You doing, God?" he cried. "I have so little left in life, and yet You let my house burn down. How could You let this happen to me? "A few hours later a ship came and picked him up. "We saw your fire signal," the crew said. "We didn't realize these were inhabited islands. We'll take you home. "The man closed his eyes in embarrassment. "Uh, thank You, God," he said finally. If you are going through some tough times.. and it is so hard to understand what God is up to.. hang on... God knows what He is doing... He cares for you.. and He is in control.. His ways are higher than our ways. Trust Him.

The Potter and The Clay

Image
Imagine a beautiful china teacup saying: "I wasn't always like this. There was a time when I was just a cold, hard, colourless lump of clay. One day the potter picked me up and said, 'I could do something with this.' Then he started to put pressure on me and change my shape. I said, 'What are you doing? That hurts. Stop!' But he said, 'Not yet.' Then he put me on a wheel and began to spin me around and around until I shouted, 'Let me off.' He replied, 'Not yet.' Then he shaped me into a cup and put me in a hot oven. I cried, 'Let me out of here. I'm suffocating.' But he looked at me and said, 'Not yet.' When he took me out, I thought his work on me was over, but then he started to paint me. I couldn't believe what he did next. He put me back into the oven, and I said, 'I can't stand this, please let me out!' But he said, 'Not yet.' Finally he took me out of the oven and set me on a shelf where ...

Why do we suffer?

When evangelist Vance Havner was in his mid-thirties, he developed a troubling nervous disorder. Previously he had been critical of people who were experiencing this condition. He said, "For two years I suffered from nervous exhaustion, and I learned not to laugh at nervous people." How easy it is to make light of the difficulties others face until we experience a similar problem. In God's school, we learn to sympathize with a variety of frailties we thought shouldn't affect Christians or should be easily overcome. We learn God doesn't deliver us quickly and easily from such conditions. Apostle Paul was a person of great faith and strength, but his "thorn in the flesh"remained with him in spite of his pleas for God to remove it. Instead of resenting this "thorn" he learned to welcome the resulting weakness that led him to find strength in Christ. This same apostle, perhaps because of his affliction, had earlier urged Christians to "comfort...

What's up?

It's more than two weeks since i wrote my last post here. If you're a follower of my blog maybe you're wandering what happened to me. For the past weeks i've been working hard on my other blogs Straight from the Heart and a little bit with Best Pinay Mom . I was trying to get more traffic on these blogs because i badly needed some google page ranks. Why is it so important to me? Honestly those blogs are my channels to get some extra income. I've joined some paid post programs to earn online but in order for me to get writing opportunities i should meet the advertisers' requirements. Most of the advertisers of course are attracted to blogs or sites with page ranks. Why do i need extra income? Basically it's for my kids school tuition fees, i want to give them the best and quality education so i have enrolled them to private schools. It's their only hope to have a better life in the future but I can't provide and support all their needs with my offi...

Fear Not

If you notice my header there's a beetle crawling on the leaf. This picture was memorable to me that's why when i saw this template i decided to use it. When i was in College i have this little bookmark with a bible verse that says: " Do not be afraid I will never leave you nor forsake you" and in the picture is a beetle clinging in the stem. I always look at this bookmark every time i feel down, it was my source of strength and inspirations. I picture myself as the beetle, clinging, trying to cross from one end to other end, holding on battling against the strong wind and rain. But i'm not afraid, 'cause i believe in His promise that He will never leave me. From then and until now, many times in my life God has delivered me from life's storms. I'm still here in this world, God gave me a second chance to live after i escaped death last year. Now i want to use this life to serve Him. But in my situation i can no longer go out and personally share His...

Behind the armor

In my meditation this morning, I got emotional while listening to the song "The Warrior is a Child" because i can really relate to this song. With all the trials and sufferings i went through, many are amazed at how i manage to keep a positive outlook at what happened to me. I remember in the second and third day of my stay in the hospital, most of my visitors were crying upon seeing me. I was so brave at that time, i never cried in front of them, instead of drawing strength from the people who came to see me they said they were the ones who went home with their Spirits uplifted. That's because as a Christian it's the strength that comes from God that i want them to see in me. That despite that great storm i went through, i know my life and future is secured because it is anchored to Him our Great Deliverer. I was able to accept my fate through the help of God's words, if you know the story of Job in the Old Testament his sufferings does not stop him from believin...

When things go wrong

When life takes a sudden shift, don't become discouraged. God has a way marked out that you have not thought of taking. This holds true when relationships end without warning, finances hit an all-time low, and job offers do not materialize. He knows our needs and He promised to make a way for us through whatever wilderness we are traveling. Often we look for quick solutions. A problem or discomfort comes and we draw back from the emotional pain. No one likes to suffer, but God's greatest lessons can be learned in times of adversity and strife. Are you willing to learn how to love a person who has hurt you? Can you say to that person. "I forgive you?" Or if that is not a possibility can you tell God you are ready to learn how to forgive so you can continue without bitterness of heart? Trials prick us. Disappointment stuns us. And adversity can leave us feeling broken with pain. When life goes wrong, the greater test is how you will deal with its coming. God uses every ...

Help for the disabled

I will always have compassion for the disabled because i am one of them. Yes, i am partially disabled, my right foot was amputated due to a vehicular accident. I'm just lucky that with the use of prosthesis leg i was able to walk again. But there are other less fortunate disabled people, like here in our country who needs help from others. Good thing there are good samaritans out there willing to help these poor disabled persons. This site GlobalGiving helps others around the world. GlobalGiving connect donors to projects via their website, as well as through custom giving services--helping corporations, foundations, affinity groups, and other institutions with their specific giving needs. All donations are tax-deductible through the GlobalGiving Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 organization. You can see one of the projects of globalgiving here .
